EMIRA IV Arrives in Collingwood After Month-Long Journey from France
After more than a month at sea, across the Atlantic Ocean, and through the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Welland Canal and the Great Lakes, EMIRA IV has arrived safely in Collingwood, Ontario.
Skipper Scott Shawyer was on the dock last night to welcome the team as the foiling IMOCA 60 completed the final leg of a remarkable delivery from France to Canada.
The journey wasn’t without its challenges. While the Atlantic crossing itself was relatively straightforward, the team faced mechanical issues in the St. Lawrence Seaway that required repairs and a coordinated effort from crew and shore team members on both sides of the Atlantic. The delays tested the team’s patience and perseverance but ultimately reinforced the collaborative spirit that underpins the campaign.
The arrival marks a major milestone for Canada Ocean Racing. Over the coming weeks, EMIRA IV will serve as the centrepiece of the team’s first Canadian summer training programme as Scott prepares for the 2026 Route du Rhum and continues his long-term journey towards the 2028 Vendée Globe.
“It was exciting to be there to welcome the team and finally see the boat arrive in Collingwood,” said Shawyer. “A lot of people thought we were a bit crazy bringing an IMOCA all the way to Georgian Bay, but she’s here, and now the real work begins.”
Scott would like to thank everyone involved in the delivery, from the crew onboard and onshore, to the many supporters, suppliers, volunteers and partners who helped bring the project home.

EMIRA IV arrive à Collingwood après plus d’un mois de voyage depuis la France
Après plus d’un mois en mer, traversant l’océan Atlantique, la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent, le canal Welland et les Grands Lacs, EMIRA IV est arrivée à bon port à Collingwood, en Ontario.
Le skipper Scott Shawyer était présent sur le quai hier soir pour accueillir l’équipe alors que l’IMOCA 60 achevait la dernière étape de ce remarquable convoyage entre la France et le Canada.
Le voyage n’a toutefois pas été sans défis. Si la traversée de l’Atlantique s’est déroulée relativement sans encombre, l’équipe a dû faire face à des problèmes mécaniques dans la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent, nécessitant des réparations et une mobilisation coordonnée des équipiers en mer et des membres de l’équipe à terre des deux côtés de l’Atlantique. Ces retards ont mis à l’épreuve la patience et la persévérance de l’équipe, tout en renforçant l’esprit de collaboration qui est au cœur du projet.
Cette arrivée marque une étape importante pour Canada Ocean Racing. Au cours des prochaines semaines, EMIRA IVsera au centre du premier programme d’entraînement estival de l’équipe au Canada, alors que Scott poursuit sa préparation pour la Route du Rhum 2026 et continue son parcours vers le Vendée Globe 2028.
« C’était très émouvant d’être là pour accueillir l’équipe et voir enfin le bateau arriver à Collingwood », a déclaré Scott Shawyer. « Beaucoup de gens pensaient que nous étions un peu fous de vouloir amener un IMOCA jusqu’à la baie Georgienne, mais le bateau est là, et maintenant le vrai travail commence. »
L’équipe tient à remercier toutes les personnes qui ont contribué à ce convoyage, des membres d’équipage à bord aux nombreux partenaires, fournisseurs, bénévoles et soutiens qui ont aidé à ramener le projet à la maison.
