Scott Shawyer and the Be Water Positive Sailing Team
attends the 2024 Vendée Globe start.
The 2024 Vendée Globe has commenced, and today marks the first week that the 40 solo competitors have been at sea. This race start also time-stamped the beginning of Scott Shawyer‘s four-year journey leading into the 2028 edition, where he will be among the sailors embarking on this incredible race/adventure.
This time last week, Scott was immersed in the palpable emotion and unparalleled energy around this legendary fleet departure. Sharing this unforgettable experience alongside our sponsor, H2O Innovation, and guests, we all witnessed the profound connection between the race, its sailors, and the passionate French public and media.
To ensure Scott is fully prepared for his own momentous start day, Performance Manager Nick Moloney meticulously crafted a schedule that allowed Scott to engage in every aspect of race day. This firsthand exposure is critical in equipping Scott with a comprehensive understanding of what lies ahead as he builds toward this pinnacle of offshore sailing.
Stay tuned for Nick’s upcoming insight into the importance of visualisation and why it was essential for Scott to experience this year’s Vendée Globe start.
To sail around the world non-stop and unassisted is one of the greatest feats of human endurance and Scott is readying for his start in November 2028. In four years time Scott will set off around the world, in this race, representing the Be Water Positive movement and his home country Canada.
